Well, let’s see how long I can manage to write in this blog while on the trip.
The trip started out well enough (hindsight proved that), as we took a good 3.5 hours to get from Banner Elk to Charlotte Airport. Caught in Nascar traffic, we thought we’d be pushing it ot get to the gate on time. Those pessimistic thoughts were compounded when we arrived at the airport satelite parking, only to be forced to park on some grassy areas. Let’s hope that the car is still there when we return.
Well, we arrived in the terminal, checked in fairly quickly which was a good thing, considering we only had 45 minutes to make it through check-in, security, and the walk to the gate before take-off time. Those parts went smoothly, and we arrived at the gate literally as the last few people were walking onto the plane.
5 hours later we arrived in LA, took a cab (plus a few U-Turns), and got to the Summerfield Suites at El Segundo. A nice enough hotel, close to the airport, and definitely good enough for a 24 hour stay before we leave for Sydney.
Tonight we leave LAX at 10:30pm, and will arrive in Sydney at 7:30am, Monday morning.
