On Friday I got a warning ticket, because my carpool sticker was about to expire. Actually….it had already expired….on the 13th of August.

Oh…a carpool sticker let’s you park in “B” spots, which are typically right beside the location you are going to. I had this because Melody and I would share a ride into work, but now that she doesn’t work at NCSU anymore…i had to give up my Carpool permit.

Here’s what i don’t understand: I paid $7 each month for the carpool sticker for the past year. I paid $7 every month….and then they said that this month’s $7 only works for 7 days. And no….i didn’t get prorated at the beginning of last year for the tie from August 14th 2009 to August 31st. It was a full $7 for that month too. Not that I care about that small amount of money, but it’s just a little annoying that they’d cut me off in the middle of the month.

Today I went to transportation to exchange my carpool sticker for a C permit. Translation for non-nc state people: this means i get to park a long way from my office building, across the sahara desert in the summer, or the arctic tundra in the winter. Either way, it’s an annoying walk, especially when there’s bad weather, or you have to carry something heavy to the office.

It’s even worse when you have a meeting across campus, and you can’t drive there anymore. Now, I have to leave significantly earlier so that i can walk across campus in time, and also give myself time to stop sweating from the 95 degree heat. Today, I had one such meeting, and on my way back i had this thought:

I guess walking across campus won’t do me any harm…..but the problem is the weather. And…it means that I won’t be doing the driving too often for our Friday lunches, because everyone else’s car is right beside our office building. Mine will be all the way across campus.

One Response so far.

We’re going to have to get you taking advantage of the Wolfline buses around here! They’re air-conditioned, heated, and provide cover if nothing else. :-)
