Sorry for the misunderstanding.....I was just pointing out that this person was obviously just looking for attention, and that it was not a case of actual needle-phobia. It really just was a case of someone wanting attention, rather than actually having a legitimate problem.

I found your post rather harsh. As someone who truly suffers from Trypanophobia, I've found one of the ways to get through a procedure I'm feeling anxious about is to talk about my fear with the nurses/doctors so that they aren't caught off guard if I do find myself in danger of passing out, etc. If you don't experience that kind of irrational anxiety beyond your control in medical situations, it probably does look kind of pathetic that someone is talking about it. Perhaps it would seem easier to you for people with Trypanophobia to avoid giving blood and signing up for bone marrow drives so you don't have to hear them verbalize their anxiety- but those of us with Trypanophobia aren't trying to "look cool" by giving blood despite our fears. We're trying to save human lives and are refusing to let our phobia control us and tell us we can't do those things. Next time you see someone talking their way through their fears, try telling him/her how brave they are for facing their fear and asking if there's anything you can do to help rather than judging him/her. I signed up for the National Marrow Donation because yes, it's the right thing to do, and guess what- I've just won the lottery as you call it. What I need as a someone who suffers from Trypanophobia is some support so that my fears don't compromise my ability to save a life as I move forward with the marrow donating process, not judgment about the fact that I might have to express some concerns about fainting to the doctors trying to help me in order to give the most awesome gift possible.

Hehehe. I'm partial to wands and lightsabers. And at least I knew Darth Vader was the father in those. ;-)Thanks for the shoutout. I had a fun time, in spite of the calories consumed, as noted in my blog entry for Friday.
