Thanks to Reddit (do you sense a common theme here), I found out about this nifty little site:  http://www.ifitweremyhome.com The premise is that it compares common metrics of countries, and tells you what would happen if you lived in one or the other. You can pick pretty much any country, and compare it to any  [ Read More ]

A coworker sent me a link to this video from the flooding in Toowoomba (my home city in Australia). It’s from a place that’s just a few blocks from where I used to live, and well….it’s just crazy the amount of water that was flowing through there. If you have 5 minutes, I would recommend  [ Read More ]

Today I had what, in the grand scheme of things, was a small victory, but it felt good enough, because it represented a step towards finishing a project I’m working on. It was basically a script that takes text, converts it to an image using a proprietary/protected font. This is important, because it means that  [ Read More ]

This morning I arrived at the office at my usual time (close to 7am), and expected to be able to walk into my new office suite. Of course, that was naive of me, as I didn’t have keys yet. I did think (naively) that the suite would be opened for us, as no one in  [ Read More ]

Just because Australia is going to need a mini-miracle to qualify for the second round of the World Cup…i thought back to the glory days of qualifying through the Oceania region, instead of what they do now (Asian Region). And then there’s the game where Australia won 31-0. Who said soccer doesn’t have enough goals!

Well…..it’s World Cup day 3, and rather than speak about the horrible display put on by Australia in their game against Germany (ended in a 4-0 loss), I figured i would point out something Australia does well. The Metric System. I could go on for days about how much sense it makes, and how idiotic  [ Read More ]
